THE BLOG
FootyFinance was started in response to the financial mismanagement of Portsmouth Football Club. The administration/bankruptcy of a club in “the richest league in the world” was a sobering moment and fueled a desire to learn and write about the finances of English soccer.
Since then the blog has expanded to cover issues in European and World soccer and focuses more generally on understanding the often tense relationship between Business, Supporters, and the Beautiful Game.
THE AUTHOR
Derlen is an American who found himself supporting Portsmouth Football Club one Saturday morning in a bar. He rather enjoyed it and decided to continue doing it. He frequents the pitches of Brooklyn and is often compard to ”an older Ji-Sung Park without the footballing ability”.
